Our Shelter is home to many companion animals. We mostly have cats and dogs, but do occasionally have other types of animals.  We employ an application process to screen our potential adopters. This process is to ensure that the adopter and the adoptee are compatible and that both animal and humans have the best opportunity for a successful relationship.

SHELTER

Our Shelter receives many kittens and puppies that are just too young to thrive in a shelter environment and need the tender loving care of human attention to give them a good start. Some of these young ones come in with mama and litter mates, some are found abandoned and all alone. We take care of all medical care for these fosters. All you need to do is provide a warm, safe home with lots of kibble and hugs until they are old enough to be adopted.  Let us hear from you if you could spare a little TLC!

ANIMAL

FOSTER CARE

The HSMC’s education program is two-fold: We have a training program for our dogs to teach them basic manners and commands to help them adjust to their new home upon adoption;  we also have Animal Education programs for the public, especially school age children. Children learn how to care for and be safe around animals. Our volunteers utilize a range of materials including videos, activity books, suggested reading material, etc. To have our Education program volunteers speak to your group or organization, to have someone speak to your group about volunteer opportunities, or for more information about becoming a part of our Education Team, contact our Executive Director at 352-873-PETS.
